Blanket, pua kumbu, formed by sewing together 2 warp-faced tabby-woven cotton textile panels along the selvedges. Each is decorated with an ikat panel in brown and yellowish cream on a red ground. This contains repeating curvilinear designs which may be abstracted from vegetal forms. On the shorter sides this is bordered by a band of triangular motifs with curls sprouting from the top in the same colours. A band of black and pink chevrons has been twined across the weft towards the end.The longer sides are bordered with stripes in red, yellow, cream, black and white, inside which is a further set of narrower stripes to either side of an ikat strip. The colours were achieved using natural dyes (with some chemical dyes in the bordering warp stripes). The ends of the warp have been loosely plied forming a fringe.
