shawl; textile

Long, cream-coloured shawl decorated with multicoloured borders on the shorter sides. The textile is sewn together along the selvedges of 2 lengths of muslin. The woven border consists of a central band of rectangles alternating between cream and violet, or yellow and green on an orange ground. Each has a small dark diamond at its centre, this is surrounded by 2 light diamond outlines and dark chevrons. The stripes separating the rectangles are mixed violet and green. This is framed with dotted orange and green bands which are outlined by narrow green bands.
