sample (textileworking: weaving); textile

A woven strip of cotton textile with a white warp and dark blue weft and pale blue patterning. There are five evenly spaced blocks of pale blue artificial silk - in the shape of an elephant - worked in discontinuous supplementary weft. Between each are two rows of small holes, in imitation of gauze weave. This weave patterning, according to accompanying documentation, is known as ''elerin' (meaning elephant)'.
